Reference Plans of Survey
|
Reference plans are the most common type of survey that is deposited in the Land Registry Office. They are usually prepared on the instructions of the property owner. These plans are used to describe newly created parcels such as severances and for existing properties where the written descriptions of the properties are either vague, inaccurate or in error. These plans are also used to describe utility easements and private and public rights-of-way.
These surveys involve setting survey monuments at all corners, (surveys for easements may be monumented on one side only). Each new parcel is assigned a "Part" number. These plans describe the extent of land and are referred to in registered documents dealing with the lands. Recent changes to Ontairo Regulations require that these plans are integrated into the Ontairo Coordinate System. |
